(now live at iTunes) A very cool recording is forthcoming from Orange Mountain Music of Philip Glass’ "Days and Nights in Rocinha".  The 23 minute work is called a ‘Dance for Dennis Russell Davies and Orchestra’ and dates from 1998.  The recording will be available on Amazon by the end of the month and should be on iTunes about same time (in stores Sept).  The work is paired with a 28 minute score called Persephone (TSE) for orchestra and chorus.
A new volume of Philip Glass’ solo piano music will be released in August on Sony Classical with pianist John Lenehan.
Philip Glass, musicians and singers performed this last weekend in New York City, Glass goes this week to College Park, MD for a solo piano performance.  Jose brought attention to the jamboree of Glass music happening in the Bay Area August-September (Appomattox at SF Opera, Glass and Sutter recital, Symphony No.8 at Cabrillo, Book of Longing, and a 4 Hand Piano Recital with Dennis Russell Davies and Maki Namekawa.  And this week Orphée begins its run at Glimmerglass Opera in Cooperstown NY.
