On January 31st, 2017 Philip Glass will turn 80 with a celebratory concert at New York’s Carnegie Hall featuring the world premiere of Glass’s Symphony No.11 and the NY premieres of Three Ifè Songs with Angelique Kidjo and “Days & Nights in Rocinha” with the Bruckner Orchester Linz under Dennis Russell Davies. Beginning Jan.24th, the Scottish opera performs Glass’s 2014 opera THE TRIAL based on Kafka. Starting January 26th the Barbican Centre in London presents PHILIP GLASS TOTAL IMMERSION including opera, dance, symphonic works, chamber music, live to film events and more. In February, the Bruckner Orchester will be performing Glass’s music on tour across the USA including stops in California, Illinois, and in North Carolina where Carolina Performing Arts presents GLASSat80 from Feb.1 to 10 including The Complete Piano Etudes with Philip Glass, the Bruckner Orchester performing Symphony No.11, Violin Concerto No.1 with Robert McDuffie, and Days & Nights in Rocinha. On February 18th, Boston Modern Orchestra Project performs Glass’s Symphony No.2 in Boston on a program featuring the Tirol Concerto for piano & orchestra with anton Batagov as soloist. Glass Orchestral Works in Boston

On February 24th, pianist Maki Namekawa presents her first ever performance of The Complete Piano Etudes as part of National Sawdust Celebrating the music of Philip Glass. Namekawa will perform the complete cycle of Glass’s etudes in collaboration with OMM and Ars Electronica. Namekawa plays The Etudes
