The Vale of Glamorgan Festival are thrilled to welcome back to Cardiff the unique and multifaceted Cello Octet Amsterdam. This adventurous collective of cellists are internationally acclaimed for their expertise in new music and interdisciplinary performances. This riveting programme blends the music of the Octet’s homeland with that of VOGF as we showcase contemporary classical works by living Dutch and Welsh composers including Théo Loevendie, Kate Moore, Joep Beving and VOGF Artistic Director John Metcalf, as well as a suite of works by Arvo Pärt, whose performances the Octet are particular acclaimed. Pärt, on hearing the premiere of his first piece for the Octet said, ‘The Octet is a treasure, I discovered this ensemble 10 years too late.’
