N Boulanger Three Pieces for cello and piano
Copland As it Fell Upon a Day
Philip Glass Perpetulum
Delyth Field Potsu Potsu (world premiere)
Hear chamber music favourites alongside works you might not know in the second instalment of our Chamber Spotlight series, which explores music by Nadia Boulanger and her pupils.
Boulanger’s reputation as a stern, but renowned pedagogue led her to teach many of the leading composers of the 20th century; her classes were known as La Boulangerie by her pupils.
In this concert, hear Copland’s early assignment for soprano, flute and clarinet, and Boulanger’s own post-impressionist pieces written in 1914. Completing the programme is a virtuosic and entertaining percussion showpiece by Philip Glass, followed by a world premiere by an RCM composer.
