A one-of-a-kind quartet of instruments from the Met’s collection receives its first outing in more than 70 years! Join Catalyst Quartet, MetLiveArts’2023–24 Quartet in Residence, and Jayson Kerr Dobney, the Frederick P. Rose Curator in Charge of the Department of Musical Instruments, for an unprecedented evening featuring instruments built in the 1890s by August Gemünder & Sons, located just across the East River from the Museum in Astoria, Queens. Hear the complementary sound of a rare matched instrument family—conceived and constructed to be played together—with American and European string quartets spanning more than three centuries!
