Mr. Vinikour brings his commanding musicianship and effortless technique to Glass’ homage to the Baroque. In another nod to the pre-Classical style\, Joseph Haydn’s Symphony No. 49\, La Passione\, fuses Baroque sound and form with the dramatic Sturm and Drang movement of the 18th century in a fiery and tumultuous work. Our program opens with Scene Symphony\, an SFCO commission by the brilliant young composer Jens Ibsen.

L’œuvre\, qui se présente comme une synthèse en six pièces des « travaux de Glass »\, a tout du manifeste\, annonçant l’évolution de sa musique (et avec elle du « minimalisme ») vers plus de simplicité\, à l’image du célèbre « Opening ». Inusable chef-d’œuvre de verre traversé de lumière\, Glassworks a tout de l’album culte\, revisité ici de manière originale et pleine de reconnaissance par François Mardirossian (piano)\, Alexis Paul (orgue de Barbarie) et Lionel Palun (vidéo).
