SUMMARY:Eibergen\, Netherlands (Another Look at Harmony\, Pt.IV)
DESCRIPTION:https://www.operaballet.nl/en/dutch-national-opera/2025-2026/minimal-christmas#tickets \n Close to a world-famous ensemble \nUsually\, the Chorus of Dutch National Opera shines as part of a grand production\, but this time it takes centre stage itself. In this concert\, sixteen chorus members perform in a unique programme that brings together the minimal music of Philip Glass and a variety of Christmas repertoire. Don’t miss this rare opportunity to experience the voices of this world-renowned ensemble up close – a heartwarming outing during the December season. \nHarmony\, rhythm and wonder \nThe programme features Another Look at Harmony – Part IV\, in which composer Philip Glass explores the interplay between harmony and rhythm. The work feels like a kind of prelude to Glass’s magnum opus Satyagraha\, the opera he composed in 1978 on commission from Dutch National Opera. In addition\, the chorus presents a colourful selection of Christmas music\, ranging from Sweelinck to Rossini. \nIn this unique concert series\, the chorus explores new musical forms and brings the power of opera and choral singing to venues throughout the country. \nPerformance information \nSopranosTomoko MakuuchiSimone van LieshoutAliya AkhmedeevaSara Pegoraro \nMezzi/AltosItzel MedecigoRut Codina PalacioYvonne KokMarieke Reuten \nTenorsTigran MatinyanJohn van Halteren Stefan KennedyRoy Mahendratha \nBassesJaap SletterinkMatthijs SchelvisChristiaan PetersGulian van Nierop \nConductor Edward Ananian-CooperConductor/organ Ad Broeksteeg

SUMMARY:Zürich\, Switzerland (Organ Works with Iveta Apkalna)
DESCRIPTION:Buy Tickets \nThe Latvian organist Iveta Apkalna\, who presented herself in very different facets as a focus artist for the 2023/24 season\, returns for an organ recital. In it\, she combines works by Bach and Philip Glass – two composers who\, in her view\, have two things in common: Transcendence and drive. Incidentally\, the American minimalist Glass himself was once asked in an interview whether he had a special relationship with Bach. He then recounted an episode from his lessons with Nadia Boulanger that certainly suggests a certain kinship: she had presented him with a middle part from Bach – and he had been able to derive the correct bass and melody from it. \nProgram: Philip Glass «Conclusion» aus «Satyagraha» Akt III (Arr. Michael Riesman) Johann Sebastian Bach Passacaglia und Fuge c-Moll BWV 582 Philip Glass «Music in Contrary Motion» Johann Sebastian Bach Fantasie G-Dur BWV 572 «Pièce d’orgue» Philip Glass «Mad Rush» Johann Sebastian Bach Chaconne aus Partita Nr. 2 d-Moll BWV 1004 (Arr. Matthias Keller)

SUMMARY:Paris\, France (Another Look at Harmony\, Part IV)
DESCRIPTION:Buy Tickets \nLes Métaboles present Another Look at Harmony Part 4.

SUMMARY:Utrecht\, Netherlands (Another Look at Harmony\, Part IV)
DESCRIPTION:Buy TicketsMinimal Christmas | Philip GlassHet Koor van de Nationale Opera maakt haar debuut in TivoliVredenburg. “Easily audible root movement (chords or “changes”) was chosen in order that the clarity of their relationship could easily be heard.” zegt Glass over het werk.
