SUMMARY:Paris\, France (Satyagraha)

Now Anna Lapwood is in Gothenburg \, with her imaginative organ programme featuring pieces from the world of film. Sit back in the Great Hall and enjoy a journey through the stars\, with music from Interstellar and Star Wars. We also hear Rachel Portman\, Philip Glass and Benjamin Britten. \nAnna Lapwood is the organist and choir director who has become a major name in music on British television and radio. Since 2022 she has been an associate artist of the Royal Albert Hall in London\, where her organ concert clips reach an audience of millions online. Most popular are her performances of film music\, especially Hans Zimmer’s magnificent soundtrack from the Christopher Nolan success Interstellar. The powerful story of parallel universes opens doors to new dimensions. \nSo take a seat in the Great Hall and prepare for a transformative experience that will take you from meditative masterpieces to the outer limits of the Milky Way. \nProgramme \n Zimmer Chevaliers de Sangreal Glass Mad Rush Zimmer Cornfield Chase Britten Four Sea Interludes Williams Duel of the Fates from Star Wars Intermission 25 min Belli Limina Luminis Ackroyd Murmurations Portman Flight Zimmer / Badelt Suite from Pirates of the Caribbean Menken The Bells of Notre Dame Sunday 24 May 2026: The event ends at approx. 20.00

This concert suggests we do and invites us to learn about the history of dance itself under the baton of Alpesh Chauhan. Simon’s Four Black American Dances are depictions of rituals and traditions from Black communities\, born out of and in response to their changing social contexts. Rachmaninoff’s Dances – his final work – whirl and weave through a series of contrasting moods\, ending in a glorious party. And Glass’ Concerto – a rare chance to see the Timpani up front and central – grooves and swings with an irresistible beat. CBSO’s Matthew Hardy and Toby Kearny take the solo spots. \nDate/TimeThursday 28 May 2026\, 7:30pm VenueSymphony Hall\, Birmingham Price£26-£62 Ticket
