SUMMARY:Paris\, France (La Belle et la Bête)
\nFind out more: https://www.chatelet.com/programmation/26-27/la-belle-et-la-bete/

SUMMARY:London\, UK (DANCE Nos.1-5)
DESCRIPTION:https://www.barbican.org.uk/whats-on/2027/event/philip-glass-dances \nPulsing with hypnotic energy and raw creative force\, a rare chance to experience Philip Glass’ Dance Nos. 1-5\, performed by James McVinnie Ensemble — trusted interpreters of Glass’s early works. \nCreated in 1979\, Dance Nos. 1-5 emerged from a landmark collaboration between choreographer Lucinda Childs and artist Sol LeWitt\, blending music\, movement and visuals into a singular artistic vision. Glass’ tightly structured patterns mirror Childs’ precise\, mathematically exact movement\, reflected by the composer’s signature rhythmic and harmonic hypnotism. \nWritten shortly after Einstein on the Beach\, the work captures Glass at a pivotal moment. With combinations from solo organ\, voice and saxophone\, and with each movement lasting between 19-24 minutes\, the work “somehow speaks all at once of joyful innocence\, intense erotic desire\, tenderness\, regret and\, finally\, acceptance” (Richard Horn).

DESCRIPTION:https://sinfonialahti.fi/en/konsertit-ja-liput/electricity-and-heroes/ \nROSS JAMIE COLLINS\, conductorMARZI NYMAN\, electric guitar \nJohn Adams: Short Ride in a Fast MachineMarzi Nyman: Electric Guitar ConcertoPhilip Glass: Symphony No. 4 \nTickets: 34–13 € adults / 28–13 € € OAPs / 10–8 € children\, students\, unemployed \nGuitar ace and chameleon Marzi Nyman creates high-speed roller-coaster rides for his colleagues in the form of concertos\, but this time the musical all-rounder is putting himself to the test. His Concerto for Electric Guitar and Orchestra turns the volume all the way up to maximum and beyond! \nIn the summer of 1977 David Bowie and Brian Eno went to West Germany to record the second part of the so-called ‘Berlin Trilogy’. The result was the album Heroes\, an undisputed masterpiece of art rock\, the experimental spirit of which inspired classics by both John Lennon and U2. Philip Glass composed an entire symphony inspired by Heroes: an obsessively pulsating\, hypnotic wash of sound that ranks among the finest achievements of minimalist music. The concert is conducted by Ross Jamie Collins\, a British-Finnish talent and protégé of Esa-Pekka Salonen.

SUMMARY:Berlin\, Germany (Akhnaten)
DESCRIPTION:February 7\,2027 \n Mit Echnaton setzte Minimal-Music-Pionier Philip Glass einer der rätselhaftesten Persönlichkeiten der Weltgeschichte ein Denkmal. \nFind out more: https://www.komische-oper-berlin.de/spielplan/a-z/akhnaten-echnaton/

Badzura \nIn celebration of Philip Glass’s 90th birthday year\, selections from Glassworks thread through the program\, offering a clear window into his unmistakable minimalist language. Listen for the “densely packed\, slowly changing patterns and seemingly unstoppable linear flow” that Gramophone calls an excellent entry point to contemporary music.Cassandra Miller — A Perfect Offering \nField recordings of bells from a convent in France are transformed through stretching\, imitation\, and repetition\, creating music that feels intimate\, fragile\, and quietly transcendent. Inspired by Leonard Cohen’s words about accepting an imperfect offering\, the work invites us to hear bells—and the passage of time—with fresh ears. As The New Yorker’s Alex Ross wrote\, “Music this uncalculatedly beautiful leaves you almost desperate with gratitude.”Mason Bates — Red River \nThe Colorado River becomes a musical journey in Bates’s Red River\, which traces its path from the Rocky Mountains toward the Southwest. Traditional chamber instruments meet electronic beats\, moving from quicksilver piano figures to ambient and industrial rhythms. Experience the changing sonic landscape as the music evokes both the river’s natural force and human impact.David Lang — these broken wings \nInspired by the lyrical world of The Beatles’ “Blackbird\,” Lang’s these broken wings finds emotional depth in restraint. Across three contrasting movements\, stamina\, stillness\, and movement become musical challenges\, with falling gestures\, silence\, and dance-like momentum shaping the experience\, creating a surprisingly expansive emotional world. \nTransformation doesn’t always arrive through dramatic upheaval. Sometimes it happens gradually\, like in a repeated pattern\, a lingering resonance\, or a familiar sound heard in a new way. Glasswork invites us to slow down\, listen closely\, and discover how much can change when we pay attention.

\nFind out more: https://www.chatelet.com/programmation/26-27/la-belle-et-la-bete/

SUMMARY:Paris\, France (La Belle et la Bête)
SUMMARY:Rouen\, France (GLA55 - 10 MOVEMENTS TO THE MUSIC OF PHILIP GLASS)
DESCRIPTION:https://www.rosas.be/nl/productions/1152-gla55—10-movements-to-the-music-of-philip-glass \nGLA55 – 10 MOVEMENTS TO THE MUSIC OF PHILIP GLASSAnne Teresa De Keersmaeker / RosasGLA55 \nBepaalde “jeugdwerken” hebben een heel eigen klankkleur. \nChoreografie

SUMMARY:Berlin\, Germany (Akhnaten)
DESCRIPTION:February 13\, 2027 Mit Echnaton setzte Minimal-Music-Pionier Philip Glass einer der rätselhaftesten Persönlichkeiten der Weltgeschichte ein Denkmal.

SUMMARY:Rouen\, France (GLA55 - 10 MOVEMENTS TO THE MUSIC OF PHILIP GLASS)
DESCRIPTION:https://www.rosas.be/nl/productions/1152-gla55—10-movements-to-the-music-of-philip-glass \nGLA55 – 10 MOVEMENTS TO THE MUSIC OF PHILIP GLASSAnne Teresa De Keersmaeker / RosasGLA55 \nBepaalde “jeugdwerken” hebben een heel eigen klankkleur. \nChoreografie

DESCRIPTION:https://valleyclassicalconcerts.org/verona-string-quartet-2/ \nThe Program: \nKorngold: String Quartet No. 2 in E-flat Major\, Op. 26Philip Glass: String Quartet No. 3\, “Mishima”Beethoven: String Quartet No. 14 in C-sharp minor\, Op. 131 \nThe Verona Quartet is by critics and reviewers as a premier ensemble of its generation. Recipients of the 2020 Chamber Music America Cleveland Quartet Award and the Fischoff National Chamber Music Association’s 2025 Educator Award\, the ensemble has earned a reputation for its bold interpretations and sonority. The Quartet serves on the faculty of Oberlin College and Conservatory as Quartet-in-Residence and as Artistic Directors of the Lunenburg Academy of Music Performance. The ensemble’s rise to international prominence was fueled by a swift succession of top prize wins at Wigmore Hall\, Melbourne\, Osaka\, M-Prize\, and Fischoff International Chamber Music Competitions\, as well as the 2015 Concert Artists Guild Competition. \nA string quartet for the 21st century\, the Verona Quartet pairs versatile programming with imaginative collaborations that bridge the time-honored canon and new\, interdisciplinary works. Notable commissions and premieres include works by composers Christopher Theofanidis\, Julia Adolphe\, Texu Kim\, and Sebastian Currier\, as well as Michael Gilbertson’s Pulitzer Prize-nominated Quartet. The Quartet recently celebrated several world premieres\, including a work for string quartet\, yangqin (Chinese dulcimer)\, and dancer by Cheng Jin Koh\, commissioned by The Smithsonian Institution in honor of the centennial of the Freer Gallery of Art. The 2025 season marks the launch of a new project with American tenor Ben Bliss\, featuring the American Songbook alongside art song literature. Past ventures highlight the group’s versatility\, ranging from live-performance art installations with artist Ana Prvački to collaborations with the GRAMMY-winning folk trio I’m With Her.

SUMMARY:Heerlen\, Holland (GLA55 - 10 MOVEMENTS TO THE MUSIC OF PHILIP GLASS)
DESCRIPTION:https://www.rosas.be/nl/productions/1152-gla55—10-movements-to-the-music-of-philip-glass \nGLA55 – 10 MOVEMENTS TO THE MUSIC OF PHILIP GLASSAnne Teresa De Keersmaeker / RosasGLA55 \nBepaalde “jeugdwerken” hebben een heel eigen klankkleur. \nChoreografie
