SUMMARY:Molyvos\, Greece (Glass for Two)
DESCRIPTION:https://molyvosfestival.com/en/festival/eudaimonia/ \nPascal Schumacher \nRecent projects by Luxembourgish composer\, vibraphonist\, and improviser Pascal Schumacher include a Philip Glass–inspired triptych: Glass One(solo EP\, 2024) and Glass Two (2024) with pianist Danae Dörken\, with an orchestral third chapter planned for 2027\, including an adaptation of Glass’s First Violin Concerto for vibraphone. Alongside this work\, he co-founded the jazz trio Singülar with Sebastian Studnitzky and Edward Perraud; their debut album was released in March 2026. He also composes for film\, dance\, and theatre\, focusing on musical structure in time and its relationship with image and movement. Schumacher’s music moves between minimalism\, jazz\, and contemporary music. Across around twenty albums\, his writing favours clear form\, pulse\, and colour—bridging acoustic and classical roots with jazz language and electronic sound design—and is often shaped by improvisation. He studied classical percussion at the Luxembourg Conservatory\, continued in Strasbourg and Brussels\, and completed master’s degrees in jazz vibraphone (The Hague) and musicology (University of Strasbourg). Since 2001\, he has been teaching at the Conservatoire and directs the Reset Festival at Neimënster (Luxembourg).

SUMMARY:Narva\, Estonia (Einstein on the Beach)
DESCRIPTION:https://www.piletilevi.ee/en/tickets/BCPH25DBBV/philip-glass-einstein-on-the-beach \nPhilip Glass / Einstein On The Beach Sa 15.08.2026 • 17:00 – 22:00Kreenholmi Manufaktuur\, Narva \nNarva Opera Festival presents: Philip Glass “Einstein on the Beach” \nOn 15 August 2026\, as part of the anniversary festival of Narva Opera Festival\, one of the most extraordinary and influential works of contemporary opera – Philip Glass’s “Einstein on the Beach” — will be performed at the Kreenholm Manufactory. \nSat 15.08.2026 \nNarva Kreenholm \nPHILIP GLASS / EINSTEIN ON THE BEACH \nMatteo Mazzoni / Jaan Ots / Luca Attili / Ketlin Oja \nEnsemble X \nTexts: Christopher Knowles\, Samuel M. Johnson\, Lucinda Childs \nConductor and Music Director Jaan Ots \nDirector Matteo Mazzoni \nVideo Artist Luca Attili \nChoreographer Ketlin Oja \nProducer Julia Savitskaja \nPhilip Glass’s “Einstein on the Beach”\, a work that probes the conceptual boundaries of the opera genre\, takes the audience on a journey where it becomes possible to glimpse behind the scenes of the operatic world and experience the performing arts from an entirely new perspective. The Kreenholm Manufactory lends this stage work a rare dimension. The monumental walls of the former industrial empire become a scenic. partner to a work that is itself a monument — one of the boldest and most influential landmarks of 20th-century music theatre. Here in Narva\, industrial heritage\, minimalist music\, and the freedom of contemporary performance art meet. The performance lasts five hours without an interval. During the performance\, the audience is free to move around. A bar will also be open. \nNarva Opera Festival celebrates its 10th anniversary year in the historic setting of the Kreenholm Manufactory in Narva. The festival offers musical experiences\, a sense of ceremony\, and timeless beauty. \nAbout Narva Opera Festival \nFounded 169 years ago as Europe’s largest textile enterprise – the Kreenholm Manufactory once had a choir that was conducted by the grandfather of beloved Estonian singer Georg Ots. Today\, in this richly historicist setting\, contemporary opera is performed and modern ballet from Estonia and neighbouring countries can be enjoyed. At Narva Opera Festival\, East and West\, history and the present\, aristocrats and bohemians meet; around abandoned industrial buildings\, the freshest winds of the world’s music theatre begin to blow. In the Kreenholm district\, one can sense the aura of the Tsarist era\, Soviet solemnity\, and today’s cosmopolitan spirit. Here\, bold avant- garde meets the finest traditions. The festival was founded by Narva-born opera singer Julia Savitskaja\, who has been organising the festival since 2015. In 2018\, Julia received the Estonian Cultural Endowment’s “Cultural Pearl” award for organising Narva Opera Festival\, and in 2022she was awarded the title of the City of Narva’s professional cultural figure in the field of music. SUMMARY:Aspen\, CO (The Hours\, Tirol Concerto)
DESCRIPTION:https://www.aspenmusicfestival.com/events/calendar/simone-dinnerstein-piano \n\nDinnerstein Plays Bach and Philip Glass \n\nPROGRAM \nPHILIP GLASS: Suite from The HoursJ. S. BACH: Keyboard Concerto No. 2 in E major\, BWV 1053—PHILIP GLASS: Piano Concerto No. 1 “Tirol Concerto” \nCalled “an artist of strikingly original ideas and irrefutable integrity” by The Washington Post\, Simone Dinnerstein made musical waves in 2007 with her distinctive interpretation of Bach’s Goldberg Variations. Here she spans the worlds of Philip Glass and Bach. Simone will be playing\, as well as conducting the orchestra! \nGlass’s First Piano Concerto resulted from a commission from the Tyrol\, Austria\, tourist board. After studying recordings and scores from the region\, Glass incorporated folk music source material in a composition for the first time. Bach’s affable and cheery Keyboard Concerto No. 2 is sometimes played as the oboe concerto from which Bach apparently recycled the piece. It must have been a favorite of his since he used all three movements again in cantatas. The performance will also feature Glass’s three-movement suite from the film The Hours\, a movie nominated for an Academy Award\, a Golden Globe Award\, and a Grammy. \nHear one of the piano world’s most individualistic voices when Dinnerstein returns to Harris Concert Hall!06With special thanks to Mr. and Mrs. Thomas D. Rutherfoord\, Jr.

SUMMARY:Melbourne\, Australia (Etudes/In the Upper Room)
DESCRIPTION:https://nowornever.melbourne.vic.gov.au/event/reb-phillip-glass \nPresented with Museums VictoriaPhilip Glass: Piano Etudes + In the Upper Room \nPerformed by Maki Namekawa + Orchestra Victoria \nFri 21 Aug | 6:30pm — 9:45pmRoyal Exhibition Building \nA unique concert experience celebrating the legacy of visionary composer Philip Glass. \nWitness two major works by one of the most influential composers of the late 20th century. Widely recognised as a pioneering figure of minimalism\, Glass’s music is characterised by cyclical patterns\, driving rhythms and gradual transformation — though he resisted the minimalist label\, preferring to define his work on its own structural terms. \nFirst\, Orchestra Victoria performs In the Upper Room\, a rarely presented work of scale\, intensity and layered sound\, conducted by Fabian Russell. Originally composed for Twyla Tharp’s landmark ballet\, this concert presentation places the focus squarely on Glass’s composition. \nThen\, world-renowned concert pianist Maki Namekawabrings Piano Etudes 1–10 to life. A leading interpreter of Glass’s music\, Namekawa brings extraordinary clarity and intensity to these meditative studies. Having worked closely with the composer\, she is widely regarded as the definitive interpreter of the Etudes\, revealing profound emotional depth beneath their elegant structures. \nTogether\, these performances span the intimate and the monumental: a hypnotic\, ever-shifting journey through the revolutionary music of Philip Glass. \nTickets$75 – $130BLAKTIX: $50
