SUMMARY:Minneapolis\, MN (Koyaanisqatsi Live)
DESCRIPTION:https://www.walkerart.org/whats-on/philip-glass-ensemble-koyaanisqatsi-live/ \n“The represents the most authentic performance practice of my music in our time.” —Philip Glass \nKoyaanisqatsi takes its name from the Hopi concept of “life out of balance\,” or a way of life marked by moral corruption and turmoil. Released in 1982 and scored by Philip Glass\, Godfrey Reggio’s wordless cinematic masterpiece spotlights the complex relationship between nature\, humanity\, and technology. For this presentation at Northrop Auditorium\, the nine-piece Philip Glass Ensemble performs the entirety of the soundtrack live\, with film projection. Moving between time-lapse visuals of urban decay and slow-motion sequences of natural landscapes\, the documentary creates a poignant portrait of the beauty and turbulence of our modern world. \nCopresented with Northrop and Liquid Music.
