Glass holds the Richard and Barbara Debs Composer’s Chair at Carnegie Hall for the 2017-2018 season. Highlights will include performances by the Pacific Symphony Orchestra with Anoushka Shankar, the Louisiana Philharmonic, Nico Muhly, the Philip Glass Ensemble and the American Composers Orchestra.

The Barbican in London celebrates Glass’s 80th Birthday with “Philip Glass at 80,” a long weekend of programming featuring Les Enfants Terribles (The Royal Ballet) and the UK premiere of Double Concerto for Two Pianos and Orchestra (BBC Symphony Orchestra and Chorus featuring Katia & Marielle Labéque) among other events.

SYMPHONY NO. 11 WORLD PREMIERE ON THE COMPOSER’S BIRTHDAY, CARNEGIE HALL, NEW YORK

On his 80th birthday, Glass’s Symphony No. 11 will receive its world premiere at Carnegie Hall as part of an all-Glass program performed by the Bruckner Orchester Linz, led by Music Director Dennis Russell Davies and featuring the New York premiere of Ifé: Three Yorúbá Songs, Glass’s collaboration with Angélique Kidjo.

National Sawdust in Brooklyn will present a series of programs including a multimedia performance of The Complete Piano Etudes by Maki Namekawa on February 24th, presented in collaboration with OMM and Ars Electronica, and  a special performance with Foday Musa Suso on March 12 to celebrate “Philip @ 80” throughout 2017.
