About this concert
Brooklyn Rider does with the string quartet what a band does with its music: they allow it to resonate. Driven, energetic, and with an unmistakable stage presence, these four musical adventurers have been exploring the sound world of Philip Glass for over ten years – not as distant performers, but as true connoisseurs of his musical DNA. To mark their twentieth anniversary, they will perform the complete cycle of Glass’s string quartets for the first time in their home town of New York. In Antwerp, they will present their personal favourites: a carefully curated selection that showcases the hypnotic power of Glass at his finest. From the pulsing rhythms of Mishima to the introspective lines of Company, and from the repetitive tension of Buczak to the monumental String Quartet No. 7.
