The NBE delves deep into the heart of American music. Together with Native American singer Pura Fé, musical phenomenon and descendant of the Tuscarora tribe, the NBE goes in search of the beauty of Native American culture. Also looking for our roots in nature was Philip Glass. His iconic film music ‘Koyaanisqatsi’, being edited for the Blazers, runs like a thread through the program. The two musical landscapes flow together like a meandering river, with live projections by the young visual artist Vincent Rang.
An introduction will be given 45 minutes before the start by Annette Embrechts, dance and theater journalist for de Volkskrant. You can reserve a spot for this free of charge during the ordering process.
English version below:
During their show, Het Nederlands Blazers Ensemble (NBE), jointly with several guests, are playing the sometimes contradictory but always colorful musical traditions of the US. From Native American to bluegrass and blues singing. Of course, the show also includes music by America’s most famous, still living, composer. Philip Glass’ genius minimal music has become a rock-solid American musical tradition.
A varied concert in which America’s diverse, contradictory, and colorful musical traditions join forces. Fasten your seatbelts!
