Lucinda Childs, new Resident Choreographer for the “technically immaculate” Gibney Company (Dance Enthusiast), creates a world premiere full-length work. Philip Glass’s Another Look at Harmony, Part 4 is a score that has never before been choreographed at this scale.

Conceived in celebration of Glass’s 90th birthday, Another Look is a structurally rigorous work that reunites two defining figures of American minimalism in a rare and timely artistic convergence. This world premiere is is performed with live music by 18 singers and an organist from the French ensemble Les Métaboles.

Composed in the 1970s, Another Look at Harmony, Part 4 occupies a singular place in Glass’s output, and is rarely performed in full. Childs has returned to this music over decades, and this commission marks the first full-length choreographic realization of the score.
