Marin Alsop is jazzed…

A nice piece from the San Jose Mercury News about Marin Alsop's 20 years at the Cabrillo Festival (she was preceded by Dennis Russell Davies). It makes mention of the premiere of "Black & White Scherzo" by Philip Glass.

I also include this review of the film Mr. Nice by Bernard Rose with an original score by Phillip Glass.  The film never got a US distributor. This review is kind and considerate of the film's flaws.  Hopefully someday the score will be released. Among its most extraordinary features, Glass composed two songs written in the style of Jimi Hendrix.  Here is a taste:
