Miscellany

THe PGE continues its Orion mini-reunion tour in Mexico, next week Maria Bachmann makes the Los Angeles  Premiere of the Violin Sonata, the Music Theatre of Wales continues its tour of "In the penal colony," and Robert McDuffie continues his amazing expedition across America of night after night concerts with the Venice Baroque Orchestra playing the "Four Seasons."

I'm getting nightly reports of audience reaction and I can't say enough for McDuffie's enthusiasm.  There was one report from St. Louis that the audience was polite after the Vivaldi, but they went "apeshit" after the Glass.  Here are the reports of record:

  1. I attended the performance of the second violin concerto in Tucson last weekend. The piece has been constantly playing either on my stereo or in my mind since I saw Robert McDuffie play two movements from it with piano accompaniment at the Poisson Rouge in New York two weeks earlier, and bought the CD.
It’s a wonderful piece, and I love how Robert McDuffie plays it (just as I enjoyed his performance of the first concerto).
I’d like to thank Philip Glass for this piece, and for his many other pieces of music that I love.
