A number of orchestra’s have announced their 2017-18 seasons and many of them are part of the commission of the new Piano Concerto No.3 by Philip Glass who has composed the new concerto for the phenomenal Simone Dinnerstein.

Glass composed his first piano concerto, the Tirol Concerto for piano & orchestra in 2000 for pianist/conductor Dennis Russell Davies and the Stuttgart Chamber Orchestra.   That piece was for piano and strings and was toured widely by its commissioners.  Then in 2004, Glass composed his Piano Concerto No.2 “After Lewis & Clark” for pianist Paul Barnes as part of the Lewis & Clark Bicentennial Commission.  That work was for piano, Native American Flute, and chamber orchestra.

This new work will be for Dinnerstein and string orchestra and will premiere in Boston at Jordan Hall on September 22, 2017 with A Far Cry.  Soloist and Orchestra will then take the new piece on tour.
