Philip Glass and Tim Fain premiered two pieces in Holland this weekend. The first is Glass's half hour Partita for Solo Violin which he composed for Fain last year. The second work, Pendulum, which was originally for piano trio and played for a private audience on Ellis Island, had its proper premiere as a piece for violin and piano in Middelburg. You get to hear bits of Pendulum in this video, which will have its US premiere next month in New York at the Metropolitan Museum of Arts with the Days & Nights Festival Players where I will be doing a pre-concert talk with Glass.

I was there. It was a superb evening in a beautiful venue.
Both concerts are recorded. On sundayevening we did an extra studiorecording of the partita. Philips comment when he saw Jakko van der Heijden (the musical director) and Tim Fain working together: “now we have two fanatics…”
