As The Perfect American opens in Australia (after The Portrait Trilogy was done there in August), it is of particular note that Satyagraha became the first Glass opera to be performed in Russia at the prestigious Ekaterinburg Opera opened on Wednesday.

This great work about peaceful resistance is unfortunately always timely. When it last was performed in New York it was during the Occupy Wall Street uprising.  Here in Russia, it's hard to ignore the coincidental political statement.  This stunning production is directed by Thaddeus Strassberger and conducted by Oliver von Dohnányi
