Totally unlike the grand-roll out of Symphony No.9 in January, replete with the festivities of Glass' actual 75th birthday and a sold-out Carnegie Hall in conjunction with a simultaneous iTunes release – the premiere of Symohony No.10 last night in Aix-en-Provence was a somewhat quieter affair. Commissioned and premiered by l'Orchestre Francais des Jeunes under the direction of Dennis Russell Davies, Symphony No.10 will be played in Berlin (August 12 at the Berlin Konzerthaus) and this fall in Paris (Oct.28 at the Salle Pleyel).
Here was a preview piece of the new symphony in French from La Provence.
