Live in Italy, Big Week, Premieres

This video is of Tissue No.7 with Wendy Sutter, Mick Rossi and Philip Glass, followed by Opening.
This week is a big one with Koyaanisqatsi being performed for the first time with orchestra and chorus when the PGE accompanies the LA Philharmonic and the LA Master Chorale at the Hollywood Bowl on Thursday.
Then on Saturday, Dennis Russell Davies and Maki Namekawa make the North American premiere of FOUR MOVEMENTS FOR TWO PIANOS.

For those attending, OMM will be selling copies of the premiere recording made by Davies and Namekawa at the concert in advance of its August release.

Philip Glass’ performances this last week in Italy mark the end of the touring season for him. Presumably the composer is occupied with composition of Violin Concerto No.2 “The American Four Seasons” which has a premiere date of December 9th with the Toronto Symphony.  Kepler which was finished a couple months ago has been in rehearsals leading up to its September 20th premiere in Linz Austria.
